District # 25 District Deputy’s August 2008 Report “Perpetuating Our Faith”

I want to thank all of you for a good start to this Columbian Year. By now you are working on several upcoming events as well as enjoying the last months of Summer.  If you have yet to go on your vacation, please enjoy and be safe. .... The installation of the Officers of St. Joseph-Taneytown Council, 11631, our first, was very successful thanks to the preparation of their officers. ....The Degree team at St. Peter the Apostle Council is making its final preparations for holding its initial first degree at their council. The hope is that they will be able to hold a degree in October. ..... I took a day trip to the Grotto at the Mount and was very impressed with the solemnness of the Grotto. There will be some information coming to you concerning the building of a “Pilgrim Center” to handle the many groups that visit the Grotto. Our Council 11975 in Thurmont is working with the Grotto Officials to see what the Knights in the area can do to support this effort.

Around The State:

All are invited to the State Family Picnic on Sunday August 31 at Patapsco State Park. Each GK has the information or you can contact me. .... Our State Officers are attending the Supreme Convention in Quebec, August 4th - 7th. .... Columbus Day Ball is October 11th. To have a District Table, we need 5 couples. If you are going to attend, please let me know by September 20th. .... Do not forget the State Charity Drive. Your GK has the participation envelopes . You can also participate through the United Way.

District # 25

The building of a district is slow and requires all councils to participate in the process. We have some immediate needs. One of which is the formation of 1st and 2nd degree teams. St Peters has a new team and will soon have their initial degree. If you are interested in learning a role for either degree, please let me know. We have a 2nd degree Conferring DD and Warden. ....Your Council Semi Annual Audit is due on the 15th of August. ..... I cannot stress enough the importance of taking pride in your role in your council and making sure that all of your council reports are in on time. This is one of the building blocks of having a “ Good Council” and a “Good District”. ... Planning your program year is the key for your recruitment of new members and the retention of your current members. Plan on marketing the Knights and your council with your programs and the Charity we do with Fraternity. It is our way of “Perpetuating Our Faith” .... Your July Family of the Month report is also due August 15th. ..... By now you should have your plans made for your Tootsie Roll Drive and Car Raffle Ticket Sales. ... Do not forget your fellow council members. Reward their hard work with the Knight of the Month Award.
